There is nothing really “social” about social media anymore. It’s a virtual soapbox, and I have very little use or interest in most of what is posted. Just because someone has ready access to a platform doesn’t mean what they say has any value—quite the contrary. Considered, deliberate debate (with associated courtesies) has given way to flip reactions and ill-informed or indefensible positions that cannot be challenged due to the ridiculous censorship you highlight. Kind of sad that something with such potential has become, for the most part, irrelevant.

I am very close to quitting Facebook. I don't spend a huge amount of time on social media and it's just not fun at all anymore. I also watch very little TV and don't even own neither a smart phone or a cell phone. Sad times that we live in.

I actually quit FB but signed on again for my podcast/blog. They make it hard to quit. Agree about our times. But I’m seeing a ray of hope.
